Coastland provided project engineering for the sustainable site design for the Yountville Community Center & Library. The LEED Platinum candidate project consisted of reconfiguring the 2.5-acre site, constructing a 10,000-square-foot Community Center building and renovating the existing Community Hall. Key components included site and grading design, including permeable plaza paving, heat island reduction, on-site stormwater reduction and treatment including bio-swales and rain gardens with an innovative subsurface stormwater detention / irrigation system that serves a water-conserving landscape. The project received the 2010 Savings by Design Energy Efficiency Award of Honor and the 2011 AIA San Francisco Citation Award.
