Coastland provided project engineering for the sustainable site design for the Yountville Community Center & Library. The LEED Platinum candidate project consisted of reconfiguring the 2.5-acre site, constructing a 10,000-square-foot Community Center building and renovating the existing Community Hall. Key components included site and grading design, including permeable plaza paving, heat island reduction, on-site stormwater reduction and treatment including bio-swales and rain gardens with an innovative subsurface stormwater detention / irrigation system that serves a water-conserving landscape. The project received the 2010 Savings by Design Energy Efficiency Award of Honor and the 2011 AIA San Francisco Citation Award.
“Coastland has been an integral member of the SMART team, assisting with the design and implementation of the SMART passenger rail and multi-use pathway system from our early engineering efforts. They have consistently produced quality work products in a timely manner. The Coastland staff has worked effectively with SMART staff, consultants and contractors in team fashion to advance the project. I especially appreciate their ability to blend into our team and function as though they were staff. ”
