Coastland | DCCM has an immediate opening for a Development Review Engineer involves delivering engineering review services to public agency clients.
About the Role:
Development Review Engineer duties may include:
- Evaluating development entitlement applications, which include design review permits, conditional use permits, tentative maps, lot mergers, and lot line adjustments.
- Assessing preliminary improvement plans, technical studies, preliminary title reports, and other relevant documents.
- Analyzing the existing public infrastructure’s capacity to support proposed developments and suggesting necessary enhancements.
- Providing feedback on application completeness, engaging with agency staff and developers as needed, and supervising plan check services for approved site improvements and related public infrastructure.
- Ensuring that improvement plans align with approval conditions, agency design standards, applicable state laws, and general completeness standards while offering plan review comments and addressing inquiries.
Technical Responsibilities Include:
- Reviewing applications for proposed developments and providing feedback on the completeness of the application.
- Working with City departments to develop conditions of approval for proposed developments.
- Attending City Council or Planning Commission meetings when necessary at the request of the agency.
- Coordinating and reviewing improvement plans submitted by developers that may include, but not limited to: Site development design; Roadway, utility, and infrastructure design; Grading and drainage design; Hydrology and hydraulic calculations and reports; Stormwater quality system design and analysis reports; Plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates; Coordination with clients, departments and other agencies.
Minimum Requirements:
- 15+ years of experience that includes processing of development projects through municipal agencies.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Registered civil engineer (PE) in the State of California.
- Prior experience performing oversight of engineers and technicians.
- Able to work in a collaborative environment and interact with staff, clients and government agencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Budget-conscious and able to manage both large and small project budgets.
