Project Description

The City of Wheatland was awarded grant funding for two projects through the federal Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program. The projects consisted of roadway resurfacing, new pedestrian ramps, drainage, and sidewalk improvements along several streets within the City.

Coastland | DCCM prepared two successful applications through the SRTS Program. The application process involved soliciting input from three schools and stakeholders, identifying safety hazards and solutions, developing concepts and decision matrices, and completing detailed applications for submittal to Caltrans.

After the City was granted funding, Coastland | DCCM completed construction documents, assisted with the bidding of this project, and provided construction management and inspection services. All plans and specifications met Caltrans and federal requirements. Coastland | DCCM also assisted the City with processing these projects for approvals through Caltrans. This involved close coordination with Caltrans Office of Local Assistance in District 3, as well as processing all paperwork and forms through Caltrans to obtain the appropriate approvals for award and construction of this project.

The total SRTS funding received for this project was $635,000.”

“Coastland's personalized approach to our engineering needs allow our citizens to fully grasp anticipated project benefits.”
